Exness official explanation page

How to check leverage restrictions (in the Exness platform)

  1. A red band on the trading chart with a "higher margin requirement period" tooltip
  2. A three-line icon next to the instrument name in the market watch list
  3. If the required margin on the order screen is larger than usual, a restriction is active

This page lets you check all of that in advance, by instrument.

If your order won't go through

During a restriction, lower maximum leverage means more margin is required for the same size. If your order fails, check:

  1. Whether that instrument is restricted right now (this page)
  2. Whether you can reduce the size
  3. Whether you have enough free margin
  4. The required margin shown on the Exness trading screen

Once the restriction ends, required margin returns to normal automatically.

FAQ

What happens to positions I already hold during a restriction?
Open positions are not force-closed (except individual stocks). Only the margin required for new orders is affected.
What actually happens during a restriction?
The margin required for new orders increases. Even if your account leverage setting is higher, the restricted cap takes priority during that window.
Why does the restriction differ by instrument?
Exness sets these per instrument around moments prone to sharp moves, such as news releases, weekends, and market breaks.
What time zone is this page showing?
By default, your device's time zone. Use the selector above to switch to Japan time (JST) or UTC.
Does the restriction apply even to Unlimited Leverage accounts (no leverage cap)?
Yes. During the restriction window, the per-instrument cap (e.g. 1:200) takes priority regardless of your account's leverage setting. Once the window ends, your normal setting applies again.
What time does a restriction start and end?
As a baseline, news releases run from 15 minutes before to 1 minute 30 seconds after, and weekends run from 3 hours before market close to 1 hour after reopening. These vary by instrument and day, so check this page's schedule for the exact times.
The restriction is shown on this page, but it didn't apply to my account — why?
Exness may adjust how the restriction around news releases applies on a per-account basis, depending on trading activity and market conditions. This adjustment is made at Exness's own discretion; the criteria aren't published, and users cannot request or choose it. This page simply shows the schedule Exness publishes.
